Your Child's First Visit

A child’s first visit to the dentist is a formative experience that can color his or her relationship with dentistry and oral health for the rest of their life. That’s why Dentini Pediatric Dentistry goes out of our way to ensure that every child’s first visit to our office is positive, educational, and fun. We take the oral health of every patient seriously, and we take the time to explain everything we do in easy-to-understand language to both kids and parents.

Here's What You Can Expect at Your First Visit to Dentini

Our dental staff, led by Dr. Elizabeth Brice, recommends that parents follow American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines and bring your child in for a first dentist visit around his or her first birthday. During this first visit, you will be introduced to the Dentini dental team to discuss your child's individual smile and ways to keep it gleaming and healthy for life.

Before you come in for your visit, we recommend that you call us ahead of time to make an appointment and give us a few details about your child so that we will be prepared for your child’s needs. (If your child experiences a dental emergency, please come in immediately, instead.) Infants will be given a knee-to-knee examination, where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap. Older children can be given a regular exam in our kid-sized dentist’s chair.

At Dentini Pediatric Dentistry, we care very much for children’s comfort and security, and we take every step possible to make your child’s first visit to our Heights and West U-area dentist office pleasant and anxiety-free. Our waiting room comes complete with books, games, and activities to relax and occupy him or her while you wait to see the dentist, and our staff is friendly, welcoming, and gentle at all times.
